Breve storia del cinema militante

This is truly a book for genre enthusiasts. It becomes challenging to follow and develop a passion for it if you don't have at least some basic knowledge of committed cinema, or if you don't know authors like Chris Marker, Frederick Wiseman, and Robert Kramer, who were central figures in a brilliant period of cinema that tried to use images in a political, indeed militant, way. It’s a clear, straightforward text that offers a broad approach to the idea of cinema itself, explaining how today the so-called “militant cinema” is fading, collapsing into the passivity of a society that is increasingly conformist, more and more prone to accept the world as it is, without rebelling. Yet there is still time, says Fofi, there is still space: we need to go back, even if just a little.
